And the project is SOLD!

Well, it finally happened. I finally sold a project, not just another option but an actual real life sale! Contract is signed and the wheels are in motion. The idea was originally pitched years ago and had been optioned previously but nothing really happened. There had been interest off and on over the years but finally last week, it sold. I feel a great sense of accomplishment. I'm hoping that this will be the domino that starts the chain reaction. So, I guess it's true that perseverance eventually pays off. What I've learned most from this experience is that we can't control when we sell. We can only control whether or not we give up.

Best wishes to you all and remember to hold on to your dreams and never ever give up.

Great for you!

One of your friends the realsisters yahoo loop.

Question for you: optioned and sold. Does sold mean it still could get bounced around and never made?

Thanks, Donna.

Rhonda, option is when they want to have the right to "shop" the project but don't want you to try to sell it to anyone else. A "sale" is when they buy the project because they want to make it into a feature and are no longer on the fence. Now, even if a project is sold there is still a chance it will sit on the shelf if they don't have the money to make it or if it gets stuck in what they call development hell...simply meaning, they can't get all their ducks in a row to get the film completed. There is supposed to be money available to get it made so let's hope this one doesn't get stuck in development hell. It's out of my control at this point. On to the next project.

Congrats on the sale, Natasha. That is FANTASTIC news! Are you going to Pitchfest this weekend? Good luck if you do.
